How deep do you mill?

Most commercial resurfacing calls for 1.5"-2" of surface milling. Failed areas or heavy truck lanes may need 3"-4" full-depth removal down to base.

Can we drive on a milled surface?

Yes, temporarily. A milled surface is drivable at low speed but is rough and sheds fines, so we schedule paving within 24-48 hours whenever possible.

What happens to the millings?

Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is hauled to a recycling yard or, where you have a gravel area or overflow lot, spread and compacted on site as a base material at a reduced cost.

When is milling required instead of just an overlay?

Mill when the lot is already at or above curb height, when door thresholds and ADA ramps would be compromised by added thickness, or when the top mat is delaminated. Overlaying a raised lot traps water against buildings and voids drainage.
